Solo Lisa & BizCard.com Present A Contest!

Last month I wrote a guest post on the IFB network about affordable business card options for (somewhat broke) bloggers. Did you get a chance to read it?

If not, you should click here and do it now. I'll wait here for you to finish. :-)

Anyways, shortly after the post was published, Ely at BizCard.com contacted me and offered to give away 250 calling cards to 2 different Solo Lisa readers! According to Ely, "The 2 winners will be able to select from any design on our site, no restriction, or upload their own and we will ship the cards for free."

Here's what you have to do to enter:
  1. Leave me a comment on this post telling me how/when you plan to use your new calling cards, or why you need them.
  2. If you have a Twitter account, add http://twitter.com/bizcard. (And while you're at it, if you feel inclined to follow someone else, you can add me at http://twitter.com/SoloLisa.)
The contest ends at 11pm Pacific time on Sunday April 5th, at which time I'll randomly pick 2 winners. Good luck!

Clarification: #1 is required, #2 is optional and up to you if you have Twitter. You don't need to have Twitter just to enter this contest!

  1. Hey Lisa!
These calling cards would be useful for me cause my brother recently went to India. He's currently with my uncle and cousins (yes I have family in India but they are Chinese of course ; ) )

Anyway, your posts are fun to read. Fashion isn't my niche but I love looking at what ppl wear.

    All the best,
    Danielle

  2. Danielle, I think you've misunderstood what calling cards are. Calling cards aren't phone cards; they're similar to business cards and have your name and contact information on them. In the olden days, ladies used to leave calling cards at people's homes when they dropped by and the person they wanted to visit wasn't present.

  7. Is this contest only open to those with a Twitter account? I don't want to open one just for this! :p

I'd use the calling cards to promote myself as a freelance writer, citing the various blogs that I write for.

    Congrats to whoever wins!

  8. MizzJ, #1 is required, #2 would just be nice if you had Twitter. You don't have to open an account just for this contest. (That's why "if" is italicized.)

  9. Ever since I read your article, I've been thinking about getting calling cards! So here's my plea: I'm out of work, so I have no business cards to use for networking, which I am trying to do more of these days. Calling cards would be the *perfect* solution!

  10. Oh-oh! That would be so cool...hmm, I would use them starting this summer (right after I graduate and you know "get serious"). Ideally for me 'ole blog and possibly an Etsy shop I would like to start... :)

  11. Lisa - I didn't know you had Twitter! I added you just now =]

And oo calling cards! (By the way, that article was fabulous; I read it when I got the IFB email a while back). They would be perfect for me because I'm still an aspiring girl wanting to enter the fashion industry. My blog has helped me start; and I would love to be able to share it with people I come across. It would look so much more professional & memorable than my blog address scrawled on a scrap piece of paper (that might just be thrown away!)

    Bisous,
    La C.

  12. Hey Lisa,

Thanks for the great big comment! I will probably end up putting up my colour experiment pictures at some point!

As for the calling cards, I have some very informal home made ones just to represent my blog, but would love some real, well done, professional calling cards to help me with networking for freelance writing. I would use them to jump start that :)

    Trisch xo

  14. Hi :)
It's so great to have a fashion blog from Vancouver - I love reading things that I can say "Oh! I know where that store is!"

As for the calling cards, does this count if I'm not a blogger? I'm a 4th year undergrad student at Emily Carr University, studying Communication Design, and I'm graduating in 3 weeks!! (scary) We put up a grad show every year, and we have to get our own business cards printed. I'd love to get this for the show :)

    Thanks!

  15. New business cards are actually on my agenda of things to buy! While I have professional business cards, I'd love one that represents the Mischief, My Dear! brand-- both my Dramatis Personae blog and my etsy shop. It's a great piece that I can throw in with purchases to let people know about my blog, and would be a useful way to network with other bloggers & indie designers as my opportunities to grow!

  16. Hi Lisa darling!
    Awesome contest!
I have been longing for some chic business cards that would have my name, my blog, and my calligraphy email so I can drum up some new business!

  17. i received quite a few calling cards when i was on vacation. i thought it's quite neat to have personal info on the card already instead of searching for pen and paper.

  18. Nice! Contest!!

Welll, if I had the cards I'd used them at networking functions when I meet magazine editors or other magazine enthusiasts! And possibly to promote my blog as well...

  19. Ooo, I'd be all over this. I always need business cards and have been looking for an alternative to the Moo cards I've been using. Can we say expensive?

  20. I just started reading your blog recently and have been endlessly entertained. The business cards would be amazing for me because I'll be graduating college soon and starting life as a freelance lighting designer. In a few weeks I'll be competing in a national lighting design competition and would love to be able to give the people I meet more than a ripped off piece of notebook paper with my email scribbled on it.

  22. as a fellow blogger and also fashion student and volunteer, i'd use the calling cards for networking. Whenever i volunteer for different shows, i always meet industry insiders and never get to properly present myself professionally. The cards will also serve as a tool to get my blog known to people, there's nothing like having your voice heard through our style blogs.

  23. Oh I would love to win the cards. I'm new at writing and designing so I really need new cards, the old ones said translator!! Plus, those designs are gorgeus!!!

I'm not very sure of how to use twitter!

  24. Erm, to be one of those super-foxy ladies in the bar and not have to use napkins to jot down my number, of course!

    Mwahahaha.

  25. Hi Lisa

What a lovely competition, thank you!

To add my entry... I am yet another blogger, trying to get a load of freelance work in marketing and writing - this would be great fr those all important "contacts" to actually know who I am!

  26. Oh, GOSH, I need calling cards.

I graduate college in two months. At that point, I'll be moving to a city where I know nobody except my boyfriend, and have no job. The job will hopefully come as soon as possible, but until then, all I'll be working with is my blooming blog, which I'm fervently hoping to turn into something substantial someday. Calling cards would help me get the word out to acquaintances in a non-awkward way. "Oh, you know what the internet? I do something on the internet! Here's my card. Check it out." Rather than scrabbling for paper, hunting for a pen, and ultimately giving up. It would also help me prove to the people I'm speaking with that this blog means BUSINESS. It isn' a personal 'for my friends' catch-up page. It's essentially an autobiographical humour column, and I take it seriously. I think a calling card would help those I meet take it seriously as well.

Whew. That was a mouthful! Sorry about that!

  27. Oh...that sucks, I missed it! The cards would came useful, cuz I have tons of friends and family leaving oversees...lol
It's okay though..there is always next time I guess:)

    xoxo
