American Apparel Nylon Tricot Floral Lace Cycle Short

In the colder months, the addition of leggings or tights made even the most immodest skirts seem day-appropriate. But now that the weather is warming up, what should one wear under this season's short shirtdresses, tunics, and floral dresses? I found my solution in American Apparel's nylon tricot floral lace cycle short ($34 Cdn). Made of sturdy stretchy material, these cycle shorts serve the same modesty-preserving purposes as leggings but are a much more summer-appropriate length. The lace trim makes them more interesting and feminine than run-of-the-mill spandex bike shorts--and just think how cute the touch of lace will be peeking out from underneath your vintage-inspired mini sundress!

  1. I've become obsessed with bike shorts once summer hit back in the South. It's too hot for denim or tights, but a skirt or dress alone leaves my legs hot and sweaty... which is gross. Solution? Bike shorts!

I love the modesty factor under a shorter skirt for a night out dancing, moving things around at work, etc.

  3. They look a little closer to underwear, than they do shorts. It must be the tightness and the lace.

  4. They look nice. Your next post should be you wearing them with a vintage dress.

  5. It's so funny how even the oddest of clothing items, like 80s bike shorts come back around again. Never say never when it comes to fashion! I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of these. I own a pair of lace ones from UO and they are just great.

  6. If it's peeking out from a dress guaranteed everyone will think it's Spanx!

  8. Lace shorts are amazing to begin with, but bike shorts?! omgg. I want a pair. Definitely too much to wear a full out pair of lace shorts so the best would be biker shorts with some lace at the bottom.
