Low Wedge Wonders

This season, I'm obsessed with the idea of adding a pair of low wedges to my shoe collection. The two pairs I used to own wore out ages ago. I've been waiting to replace them ever since, biding my time while the gladiator sandal (yuck), the flip-flop (gross), and the platform sandal (too va-va-voom for the office) had their day in the summer sun. Now, low wedges are back with a vengeance: colourful suede or patent leathers, metallics, neutral styles with lots of texture, espadrille soles.

I love the fact that these are truly 24/7 summer shoes. Casual enough for weekend brunch, polished enough to pair with circle skirts or cropped trousers for the office. A little dressier than a flat sandal for a low-key date night, more comfy than heels or high wedges for balmy evening strolls. No wonder I wore out my old pairs! And with the alluring styles available at the moment, I'll probably run the danger of doing it again. Better buy two pairs, just in case.

1. Lauren by Ralph Lauren 'Cecilia' wedge ($69)

2. Madewell ankle strap mini wedge ($94.50)

3. Loeffler Randall 'Alana' twist wedge sandal ($400.30)

4. J. Crew 'Lillian' suede low wedges ($206)

5. Coclico 'Karmina' wedge sandals ($389.62)

6. Loeffler Randall 'Amelie' sandal ($375)

7. Luxury Rebel 'Cutie' demi wedge sandals ($149.45)

Are you a fan of low wedges?

    1. Same here! I'm leaning towards the J. Crew pair at the moment but can't decide between blue suede, beige patent, or silver metallic leather.

  2. I have one pair from last summer. I wore them so many times I think it's time to retire them, I mean: the sole is starting to come off, but I am so obsessed with them.

    1. If the rest of the shoe is good condition, maybe a cobbler can fix them? I mean, if you REALLY love them and can't stand the idea of parting with them...

  3. I had been focused on the Mini Andie Wedge from Madewell, and am so glad I finally bought them! I love the low wedge option - it gives just the right amount of lift on those days I don't want to fuss with high heels!

    1. Yes, another low wedge lover! I don't think I saw the Andie wedge on the website. Was it only available for a limited time?

    2. They're still on the site:

My preference is for the original Andie sandal, but I waited to long and they ran out of my size :(

    3. Cute! I considered including those in my round-up but didn't want too many neutral-coloured options.

  4. My new job requires me to dress up and I try to wear heels but my feet can't take it anymore. Low wedges in the summer might just be for me.

I do want wedge espadrilles for the summer (not for work but to wear casually on weekends.

  5. I am in love with wedge heels!! They are great for something slightly dressy or casual. I think it's way more versatile than the traditional flat gladiators style sandals. Either way, my biggest problem is picking a pair that I really really love. I've yet to find one and hopefully I will this summer! Thanks for sharing your picks!
