Introducing Dior Addict Lip Tattoo

Dior Addict Lip Tattoo

It's easy to become addicted to Dior when they keep knocking it out of the park with their beauty launches. The latest review samples to cross my beauty blogging desk? Three shades of the new Dior Addict Lip Tattoo ($36), a pigmented lip colour that feels like barely anything on the lips and promises up to 10 hours of continuous wear. All the details after the jump!

The formula's texture reminds me of Dior Addict Fluid Stick: It's light and liquid-y, feels like a refreshing drop of cool water when first applied, and dries down to pigmented colour and a barely there veil of colour. (Oh, and it's mint-scented!) The small doe foot applicator makes it easy to line and fill in lips with precision. However, it does take a few swipes back and forth to distribute the colour evenly because the formula is so liquid-y.

It's not drying and is remarkably comfortable for a long wear formula, although if you have very dry lips like I do you'll start craving clear lip balm or something with a bit more slip around the 3+ hour mark. The colour won't kiss off on coffee cups, straws, or your significant other. On the days I tested Dior Addict Lip Tattoo, it lasted for about 5-7 hours—through breakfast, lunch, and countless sips of coffee, tea, and water—before the initial application's vibrancy began fading and needed a minor touch-up.

The colours shown here are: 761 'Natural Cherry' (a bright raspberry red); 491 'Natural Rosewood' (a mauve-y pink); and 451 'Natural Coral' (a bright pink with a hint of orange and a Nordstrom exclusive). There are six pink-based shades in total (nude, pink, and berry are the other three). They're all flattering and face-brightening, particularly against a sun-kissed complexion. As you can see from the swatches above, it goes on shiny and liquid-y, but the shine fades as the lip colour dries and sets. The swatches below were photographed after I'd wiped the excess product off, and even though I'd barely had the colour on the back of my hand for five minutes, the base layer of colour had already set so much it was virtually budge-proof no matter how hard I scrubbed. Lip tattoo indeed.

Final verdict? If you're craving comfortable, long-lasting colour in a flattering hue, Dior Addict Lip Tattoo might be just what you need. But if a lip colour with more slip and hydration is your MO, you might be better off with something like Dior Addict Lip Tattoo, also launched recently and reviewed here.
