Product Review: Linacare Transforming Face Cream

Linacare Transforming Face Cream

So, how about that arctic chill hanging over Vancouver? A couple minutes outside is enough to sting noses and cheeks before skin subsides into complete numbness. I've been relying heavily on the moisturizing MVPs from this post, but I also added a new player to the roster. Meet the Linacare Transforming Face Cream ($58 at BeautyMark), aka the best thing to have happened to my skincare routine since I started using makeup cleansing wipes.

Eczema and sensitive skin sufferers might already be familiar with this cult brand. Vancouver-based Linacare was founded in 1991 by Dr. Henry Fung, who wanted a moisturizer for patients with chronic skin irritation resulting from internal and kidney ailments. The formula had to be non-allergenic, non-greasy, quick-absorbing, and long-lasting. Finding none, he created his own.

The hypoallergenic, unscented formula is ideal for my skin at the moment, which shows signs of dryness but is more blemish-prone than usual. Its texture is rich yet non-greasy, so just a little bit goes a long way. In the mornings, I smooth a thin veil of it over my face before CC cream and concealer. At night, I apply a slightly thicker layer over a serum. And in the last two weeks, there has been a noticeable difference: My skin is softer and more even-toned, with a porcelain lit-from-within glow right when I wake up. Plus, the cream doesn't seem to have aggravated current blemishes or caused new ones.

I've been applying the cream with a very light touch so that it enhances the moisturizing benefits of my current CC cream and serum without clogging pores. But if you're worried about it being too rich, a lighter formula is also available.

  1. it's been freezing here too. yesterday I had to stand outside for 2 hours at -18 and I think I almost died. I limped when I walked because my toes were frozen and they were hurting. and this sounds like a good item when it's non greasey quick obsorbing and offers the weather protection!

  3. can we use aloe vera gel after shampoo? We can also use Aloe Vera gel after shampooing as a conditioner. Aloe gel adds shine and new life to dead hair. Hair is moisturized and clean perfectly with the use of Aloe Vera gel.
