Product Review: Hourglass Superficial Lash Mascara

Finally, a mascara from my Sephora sampler pack that I loved enough to want to purchase! Hourglass Superficial Lash mascara promises to create volume, length, and definition with its precise brush, while the vitamin E-enriched formula moisturizes and nourishes lashes. With its unassuming packaging and my previous mascara disappointments, I initially expected the Hourglass mascara to be a dud as well, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I found this to be the Holy Grail of mascaras for me.

Unlike other volumizing/lengthening mascaras with huge brushes, I found the Superficial Lash applicator just right for my short Asian lashes. The applicator grabbed every lash and applied product evenly from the base to the tip without leaving smudges or marks on my eyelids. Even after 4-5 coats, it didn't clump at all. I was also pleased to discover that the formula conditioned my lashes as promised: they were softer and noticeably longer after a month of usage.

The only downside to this miraculous mascara is its hefty price ($26 US and $34 Cdn for the full-size version). But with all of its benefits, I think Hourglass Superficial Lash might be worth the splurge.

Have you tried Hourglass Superficial Lash?

  1. The Sephora Sampler packs are a good way to test out products that you would not normally buy. I am glad you found one that you liked.

Now if I only could get my hands on a sample of the Hourglass mascara.

  2. 26 is quite a splurge, but sounds like it's worth it. I love the name!

  3. I've been searching for a good mascara so thanks for this review. My problem is that it tends to run and form raccoon eyes on me halfway through the day. Any thoughts on how this performs in that area?

  4. Livie, I've found this mascara stays put really well. I can wear it for 12+ hours and it won't so much as budge! You do need a good waterproof eye makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day, though.

  5. It sounds like a really promising product, quite reasonable for its price, I might say. I'm gonna have to give this a try. Thanks!
