Latest Outfit: Dressed Up Sweatpants & A Big Announcement

Dress up sweatpants with a blazer, glitzy statement necklace and sharp oxfords.

Oh hey, it's been a while since my last outfit post, hasn't it? The boy and I have been dealing with some personal stuff the past couple months, hence the erratic posting lately and the announcement I'm about to make.

The boy's been under a lot of work-related stress and anxiety for the last two years or so, and it all came to a head two months ago. We've both cut back on a lot of commitments to take it easy as he gets through a serious case of burnout. The past few weeks have been emotionally tumultuous, to say the least.

Things are improving but still pretty tenuous, which is why we've decided to postpone the wedding until next spring/summer and go on vacation this summer instead. It's just too much to be worrying about wedding planning (hello, more stress!) at this time. This wasn't an easy decision to make, but ultimately it's the best decision for us.

Blog-wise, I'll still be posting with a focus on beauty, lifestyle, and trends, and I have a really exciting collaboration and giveaway coming up at the end of the month. (Hint: it involves lingerie, spa treatments, and pure indulgence!) But as I alluded to in this post about the KonMari cleaning method, there'll be fewer outfit posts from here on out. My heart's just not in it anymore, plus the boy needs to relax on the weekends instead of playing photographer.

  1. Ah, job stress and office politics are no fun. Here's hoping the next quarter is more pleasant :-)

    1. Hopefully! But this case of burnout was years-long in the making, so I don't expect it to go away overnight.

  2. Stress is the worst! You'll definitely thank yourself in the long run for making a mature decision about your wedding. And you'll be able to enjoy it so much more. Love the necklace :)

  3. Lisa, thanks so much for letting us know! I'm so glad you guys are taking time to work through the burn out -- and you aren't feeling pressured to post a ton or take pics you aren't feeling. I know exactly what you mean -- about four years ago, I started loosing interest in outfit posts and you can tell -- I never do them any more.

I hope you two have the most wonderful holiday this summer and a much more relaxing spring.

    xoxo,
    Lar

p.s. I hope we can meet up in real life some time once I move out to Seattle in the fall!

    1. Thanks for the words of support, Lar! And yes, we'll definitely have to meet up in Seattle when you move there; the boy and I go pretty frequently and it'd be great to meet you IRL after years of reading each other's blogs.

    2. Oh, and likewise, you'll have to visit Vancouver! We'll take you to the best Asian restaurants. :D

  4. Hey Lisa, sucks to hear about all that stress. Hope your summer travels bring a lot of non-stressful fun and excitement! I don't know how you were able to keep up the OOTD for so long. I had my boyfriend play photographer a few times and it was an absolute drag. Hope you have fun wedding planning when the time comes :)
