Boston: the birthplace of liberty, home of the Red Sox, Bruins, lobster rolls, Fenway Park, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and the oldest [insert any item you can think of here] in the United States. Perhaps the boy and I have seen one too many movies set in Beantown, but it struck us as the perfect vacation alternative to been-there-done-that New York, which is why we spent last week touring this fair city and surrounding parts of New England.

I'll share more photos and highlights (so many, as evidenced by Instagram!), but in the meantime, here are a couple of outfit shots snapped very quickly while we were on our way to tour Fenway Park. Because I traveled with carry-on luggage only, I pretty much wore some variation of this tee/jeans/Converse combo throughout the entire trip.

The key to elevating this look? Luxe details: the silk panel on the cotton tee, a goes-with-anything statement necklace, and Karen Walker sunnies. Beauty-wise, I opted for low-maintenance prettiness. Small French braids kept my growing-out bangs from obstructing my vision (they stay put all day this way), and natural-looking lip and nail colours added subtle polish.

Simple and casual? Definitely. Would this outfit cut it if I were going to New York or Paris? No, but it happens to suit the low-key vibe of Boston perfectly.

I haven't been to Boston since I was 7 so I can't wait to see more pics from your trip!
