Empties: October 2018

Empty beauty, skin, and body care products

There's something oddly satisfying about using up products, collecting the empties, and looking back now that I'm in a regular groove with these empties posts. This month's round-up includes quite a few sheet masks as well!

Olay Ultra Moisture Shea Butter Body Wash (previously included in September's empties post)

Quick notes: I still stand by my original opinion: "Far from all-natural, but like all Olay body washes it's pleasant to use and super affordable. Light scent, rich lather, leaves skin feeling soft instead of stripped." Using up an entire bottle of body wash in a month seems like a lot, but Hubs was using it too.

Would I repurchase? Maybe.

cbeauty Lavender Universal Body Oil ($29.95)

Quick notes: Despite how lovely this product is for colder weather when skin tends to be drier, I'm kind of relieved I used it up before temperatures dropped and the coconut oil solidified at room temperature again. Knowing me, I'm just too lazy to warm up the bottle every single time I apply it.

Would I repurchase? Maybe. It's a gorgeous luxe body oil and I liked the scent, but again, the laziness factor.

BVSpa by Bon Vital Salt Scrub (previously featured here)

Quick notes: This might have reached the status of "forever product" for me. Affordable (especially when it's on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart), easy to restock, effective, love the grapefruit scent. Get used to seeing this empty every two months.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but not yet. I had an extra tube lying around!

Santa Maria Novella Crema Per Le Mani

Quick notes: Creamy and rich, fast-absorbing, non-greasy, delicious lemon scent. This hand cream from the famous Florentine pharmacy was one of my favourite souvenirs from our Italian honeymoon; it was the perfect little everyday luxury. I'm gutted now that it's done.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but only if I know someone who's going to Florence or Rome and can pick up a tube. I've looked up how much it costs to buy online and the mark-up hurts my heart.

Hand Chemistry Hyaluronic Body Mist (previously featured here)

Quick notes:My second empty for this product. Because it's cool to the touch when applied and is so lightweight and absorbs so quickly, I think it's a nicer moisturizer option for summer.

Would I repurchase? If Deciem is still around next summer, yes.

Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream ($15.99 at London Drugs)

Quick notes: Not a fan of the texture or scent. This cleanser also struck out with Hubs.

Would I repurchase? No.

Pixi Glow Tonic (previously featured here)

Quick notes: It's a cult fave for a reason! Sometimes when I was too lazy to do a more intensive peel or exfoliating treatment, I'd just swipe on Glow Tonic a few more times than normal that week. If I weren't alternating between five different toners and essences depending on my mood, I probably would've used this up a lot quicker.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but I still have extras at the moment.

EOS Vanilla Bean Organic Lip Balm ($4.24)

Quick notes: I'm a big fan of EOS's lip balms usually, but for some reason this particular one was very grainy and thin-textured and therefore didn't feel very moisturizing. Hoping this was a fluke?

Would I repurchase? Maybe.

THEFACESHOP Hwansaenggo Escargot Golden Firming Gel Eye Mask

Quick notes: I usually prefer a full face mask over a targeted one, so this one has been sitting in my beauty stash for a while. It's a gold-coloured masquerade-style mask that spans the face and covers the eye socket and undereye areas. Refreshing to the touch, relatively dry (i.e. no dripping essences).

Would I repurchase? This doesn't seem to be available anymore, but even if it were, probably not.

TONYMOLY Radiance I'm Tomato Sheet Mask

Quick notes: Very wet! The essence was collecting in drips along my jawline. Kind of tingly on. Artificial savoury tomato scent. Love the adorable packaging.

Would I repurchase? Maybe.

Nature Republic Real Nature Aloe Sheet Mask

Quick notes: At $2, I didn't have high expectations for this mask. It was a cheap thrill that did the job adequately. Not as natural as purported, and doesn't cling well to face.

Would I repurchase? Probably not.

Nature Republic Hyaluronic Acid Comfort Mask

Quick notes: Soothing. Lots of solution in the packet which I spread over my neck, chest and limbs. My initial impression of the scent was that it was fresh, but it smelled kind of plasticky the longer I wore the mask.

Would I repurchase? Jury's still out. I have another one of this mask in my stash, so I need to try it again to form a final opinion.
