Drugstore Delight: Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub & Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment

Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub & Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment

Cold temperatures, indoor heating, drying long-wear lip colours...fall and winter are a harsh time for lips prone to chapping, so what better time than now to show them some TLC? Especially when affordable, effective, and 100% natural products like the Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub ($9.99 on sale for $7.99 at London Drugs) and Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment ($9.99 on sale for $7.99 at London Drugs) exist. These new-to-me lip goodies were among the products I was most excited to try at this year's #LDBeauty event and they did not disappoint.

Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub

Let me first preface this by saying I can be pretty picky about lip scrubs. In my years as a beauty blogger, I've had countless almost full jars of lip scrubs expire because I found myself rarely reaching for them. They were either too messy to use, the texture was too grainy or not grainy enough, or if the lip scrub wasn't all-natural the scent seemed too artificial. Some natural lip scrubs also came in surprisingly large jars that would expire within 3 months of opening, which never made sense to me. Who could use up that much lip scrub in 3 months?!

Taking all that into consideration, the fact that Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub has a 12-month shelf life and comes in a sensibly sized 7.08 gram jar are already wins in my book. But then there's the all-natural formula, which combines honey crystals and emollients into a gently exfoliating, sweet-smelling paste. The granule-to-emollient ratio is well balanced so the texture isn't too scrubby or too sticky, and there aren't loose dry honey crystals going every which way. You can adjust the exfoliation intensity by using as little or as much product as you want. I've been reaching for it twice a week in the evenings, and it does the trick and leaves my lips feeling baby soft each time. At this rate, the lip scrub is bound to appear in an end-of-winter empties post, and that's saying a lot considering I'm the girl who lets lip scrubs expire.

Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment

Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment, with its light peppermint scent and indulgent texture, is also a genuine pleasure to use. This is my first time trying an overnight lip sleep mask so I can't compare it to others. Compared to standard Burt's Bees lip balms though, it has a thicker, creamier, melts-on-your-mouth consistency; a tiny dab of this feels thicker and more emollient than 10+ swipes of Burt's Bees lip balm. It does transfer onto my mug when I drink my nighttime tea, but reapplying before my head hits the pillow is not a big deal as I've started keeping it on my nightstand. I always wake up with noticeably softer lips in the morning whenever I use this.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly self-care indulgence, or some stocking stuffer ideas for the holiday season, it doesn't get any better than the Burt's Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub and Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment. Just promise me that you'll buy both—these two products go together like salt and pepper. Plus at less than $10 a pop, how could you not?
