Fellow style bloggers, a question for you: Do you have items in your wardrobe that you wear constantly but have somehow never been featured on your blog? Such is the case with my houndstooth-patterned scarf. Its lightweight wool and oversize print have made this scarf one of my winter mainstays, adding visual interest and much needed warmth to any look. Last Sunday, I used the scarf as the focal point for a casual brunch-and-errands outfit that combined a lot of textures, patterns and colours. Tweed, leather, houndstooth, and two types of polka dots...on paper, it sounds like a recipe for disaster, but all the neutral colours and splashes of navy tied everything together well.

After a slow start to 2013 which included being sick and feeling a bit overwhelmed, I feel like I'm finally getting my groove back and en route to achieving my goals. The projects I'm working on are on track (focus on career, check!), and I went salsa dancing and caught a Canucks game this week (exercise and downtime, check!). Plus, I'm looking into yoga classes in my new neighbourhood (more exercise, check!), and I signed up for a course starting in March that I'm already excited about (go back to school, check!). So all in all, things are looking up!

Have a good weekend!

  1. Gorgeous! I'm always afraid of mixing patterns, but you pull it off so well.

    1. I have to admit, I usually mix colours more than patterns so this is a sartorial anomaly. Pattern-mixing might become part of more outfits in the future though. Thanks for your kind words!

you've got an incredible knack for mixing. all the patterns, textures and style choices are supremely ace. and i do in fact have many items that haven't made it onto the blog yet. sometimes i wear the same thing in shoots and then think, why didn't i choose something new? so strange but ah well, it's how it goes sometimes. i get so much insp from posts like this though. it's what keeps my motors running! so glad to hear you're bulb's burning bright again, cheers to a stellar weekend of more goodness to come. xo ♥
