VFW Backstage Beauty: Bronze Minimalism

Vancouver Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 Martins Paulo show runway beauty look by Yasmin Morshedian

File this one under "warm weather beauty inspiration." Makeup director Yasmin Morshedian created heaps of avant garde runway looks for the latest season of Vancouver Fashion Week. But this look—for Brazilian designer Martins Paulo's VFW debut—wins for subtle allure and sheer wearability.

Note the flawless skin, the tan cheeks, and the distinct lack of blush and overt rosiness. It's hair and makeup that would sway pretty when worn with a camel trench and coral sun dress, tulip bouquet in hand. But it would also exude cool-girl je ne sais quoi when paired with this season's minimalist 90s-inspired clothes.

The best part? All the products used are by Cover Girl and available in drugstores now.

To achieve a perfect complexion, Morshedian used Cover Girl TruBlend Liquid Makeup and Cover Girl TruFix Concealer Stick to even out darkness and ruddiness. Pro tip: If you have a lot of redness, choose a foundation in the right tone—light, medium, or dark—but more yellow-based than what you need. Apply a thin layer of the yellow-based foundation first to neutralize the redness, followed by foundation that matches your skin. Next, blend Cover Girl truMagic in 'The Sunkisser' along cheekbones and into the hollows for a soft contour effect.

Line eyes with Cover Girl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus in black along the waterline and lashline. (Dab watery tear ducts with a Q-Tip!) Finish with a couple coats of Cover Girl Bombshell Volume by LashBlast mascara.

Seven products, one low-maintenance yet polished look that easily transitions from day to night. Will you be trying this at home?

    1. Gorgeous, isn't it? And it's totally not heavy bronzer in a Jersey Shore kind of way.
