Since I've been sharing Boston vacation photos, I couldn't resist posting this set of outfit photos snapped at Green Animals Topiary Garden in Newport, RI. The outfit is a variation of the Boston travel outfit I pretty much wore for the entire trip. However, the glitzier statement necklace and Breton stripes felt like an apropos nod to Newport's glamorous Gilded Age mansions and seaside vibe, respectively.

The boy and I have another trip coming up this Friday—a 4-night getaway to San Francisco—due to a bad case of post-vacation blues after Boston. It wasn't long before we were scouring the Internet for travel deals, and lo and behold, we found a direct flight and 4-star hotel package. We justified the second trip by foregoing our birthday and anniversary presents, reasoning that the vacation would be better for our spirits than more stuff.

I'd like to pretend that my San Fran travel style will be more creative, but truth be told, my all-time favourite strategy for traveling with carry-on only is to wear a pair of jeans and a jacket on the plane, then bring a spare pair, a cardi, and as many changes of tops and underwear as I need for the number of days I'm away. I rely on accessories changes to dress the look up or down. Maybe a tad boring, but highly effective.

Are you going anywhere this Labour Day? What are you bringing in your suitcase?
