Drugstore Delight: Pixi DetoxifEYE Depuffing Eye Patches

Pixi DetoxifEYE Depuffing Eye Patches with spatula

Deadlines, study sessions, kids, insomnia, Netflix binges...whatever the reason may be, we've all probably had late nights and woken up with puffy eyes and dark circles at least once, yes? That's what makes a product like Pixi DetoxifEYE Depuffing Eye Patches so universally appealing. Soothing eye patches and masks are nothing new under the sun, but most of the time they're sold one pair at a time and cost $5-10+ a pop depending on the brand. By contrast, Pixi has packaged 30 pairs of hydrogel eye masks in a single jar that retails for $28 USD. The resulting product is more affordable and minimizes packaging and plastic waste. It also makes me more inclined to use eye patches regularly because I know there's a jar full of them just waiting for me whenever I need a pair—so convenient!

The hydrogel eye patches are soaked in a solution that boasts collagen, peptides, caffeine, aloe, hyaluronic acid and natural extracts. Use the small spatula that's included to peel the masks apart and lift one out at a time; you'll definitely need it as the hydrogel material is thin and tears easily. The eye patches feel cool to the touch upon first application and are great at soothing and de-puffing. On weary mornings, I pop on a pair for the recommended 10 minutes and am noticeably brighter-eyed and less puffy by the time I leave for work.

My tips to get the most out of these eye patches? First, they stay put much better if you apply them with the thickest part at the outer corners of your eye area. That might seem counter-intuitive (don't you want the maximum coverage possible on your puffy under eyes?), but trust me, if you do the opposite the eye patches have a tendency to slowly slide down your face. Second, after the 10 minutes are up the eye patches might still feel wet enough that discarding them right away seems a waste. When that happens, I peel them off and rub them all over my face and neck for a little energizing and de-puffing boost.
