Spring Style: Wide Leg Pants

It's hard to believe outfit posts used to be a mainstay on this blog. I don't post my outfits as much anymore because, quite simply, I don't have a lot of variety in my wardrobe. But the flip side of that is when I do purchase something it's usually a thoughtful addition that goes into heavy rotation and has a big impact on the rest of my wardrobe and updating my overall look. For this spring, the new additions comprise white platform sneakers, tees with a slightly retro vibe (like this one with its 70s-inspired stripes), a new crossbody bag from Paris and wide leg pants.

Wide leg pants seem to be everywhere this season and I'm fully on board with this trend. The ones I'm wearing here are high-waisted with a cropped leg, made of linen and wide enough to almost be a subsitute for an A-line skirt. They're great with tees or tanks or slightly cropped tops, and a slightly chunkier shoe, maybe something with a platform. Perfect for my casual office environment, comfy and flattering on the weekends.

I've been pretty busy with work and barre since returning from Paris and haven't had a chance to blog about our adventures yet—those posts are coming! In the meantime, here's a glimpse of one of the things I bought on our trip: this cognac leather bag from Tila March. Paris is a mecca for all sorts of luxurious purchases and Chanel will always have a place in my heart. But this time around, I was more excited by the contemporary brands and Parisian labels you can't find in Vancouver, of which Tila March is a prime example. The founder was a stylist for Vanessa Bruno before branching out and starting her own handbag line. Tila March now has standalone stores in Paris and Japan (where there's an appreciation for quality goods and Parisian labels)—and that's it. As soon as I spotted this bag, I knew it'd be the perfect goes-with-anything, casual-but-elevated complement to feminine dresses or denim shorts this summer, and it felt extra special knowing nobody else in Vancouver would have it.
