New & Noteworthy: Paul & Joe Cheek Color CS

Paul & Joe Cheek Colour CS features cat-shaped blush beads.

Meow-velous, purrfect...really, I don't there are enough cat puns in the world to capture the irresistible charm of Paul & Joe Cheek Color ($48 at Shoppers Drug Mart). Paul & Joe beauty products don't necessarily perform better than their drugstore, department store, and luxury counterparts, but they really stand out when it comes to packaging and presentation. And in the case of this adorable blush, they've definitely outdone themselves.

Loose blush beads aren't exactly a new concept on the beauty block, but look at these cat-shaped ones! Why has nobody thought to make blush beads shaped like things before?! The cats are one shade lighter than the round pink blush beads in the mix, and there are smaller round golden beads as well to give the blush a subtle illuminating effect. All the beads are super-soft and blend together to form a universally flattering, build-able, warm peachy pink—pretty much the perfect pick-me-up for a winter-pale complexion. There are two shades available (105 is the one shown here); the other one is a cooler pink.

Cat blush beads aside, the other details of Paul & Joe Cheek Color CS are just as delightful: the recyclable cardboard packaging in the shape of a compact cylinder; the grumpy-looking kitty splashed kaleidoscope-style across the exterior; the fluffy white puff topped with a yellow bow. The puff is great for keeping the beads from moving around and getting smashed up inside, but for precise application, I like swirling a small powder brush in there to blend all the colours together.
