I had the privilege of being profiled in the beauty/lifestyle magazine portion of Sing Tao Daily 1.5 weeks ago along with a bevy of other Asian fashion bloggers. Perhaps not a big deal to English speakers, but for my parents who follow Chinese media and are regular readers of Sing Tao Daily, it was huge. My mom actually laughed out loud with delight when I called her and told her to pick up a copy. If you can read traditional Chinese, I encourage you to expand the photo and give it a go. Huge thanks to writer Vincent Chik for the honour!

So, this is kind of exciting: I'm in the April 2013 issue of PEOPLE StyleWatch! That's Jennifer Lawrence on the cover (making this the second time I've been in a magazine featuring the Oscar-winning actress as a cover girl), and that's me on page 68 along with some seriously stylish PEOPLE StyleWatch readers. I'm pretty flattered by the glowing terms the editors used to describe my outfit: "A denim shirt and casually looped belt look cool and unexpected with feminine pieces like a lacy pencil skirt, clutch and pumps."
Do pick up an issue if you're looking for some shopping inspiration this season; its pages are full of accessible ideas, affordable finds and easy styling tips. Thanks, PEOPLE StyleWatch!
Featured in Framework Magazine
After a long overdue weekend getaway to Seattle, I'm slowly readjusting to normal life and fighting a cold. (Sigh.) While I'm getting back into the blogging groove, check out the October issue of Framework Magazine, which features yours truly on their monthly blogger panel talking about Thanksgiving plans and favourite autumn activities. Many thanks to editor Bria Lear for the feature!
P.S. Only two more days to enter my Shopbop $100 GC giveaway!
Published in FLARE
I'm marking my return to blogging after last week's hiatus with an exciting announcement: I have an article published in the June 2012 issue of FLARE magazine! (On page 136, to be exact.) If you want to flip around and read others before you get to it though, I don't blame you. The issue is filled with fun features like a stylish guide to London by Rebecca Tay, and an exclusive on Chanel's little black jacket and Karl Lagerfeld by Mosha Lundstrom Halbert.
Unlike my last article (which was all about my mother), this one deals with social media and what can happen in online spaces when friendships sour offline. Not a pleasant experience perhaps, but a very universal one as I discovered while writing this story. Major thanks to editor-in-chief Lisa Tant for this fantastic opportunity, former managing editor Catalina Margulis for her thoughtful editorial suggestions, and current managing editor Maureen Halushak for ensuring the article went to press without a hitch. Oh, and another round of thanks to the experts and subjects who graciously consented to do an interview.
It's on news stands now, so pick up a copy today. Enjoy!
Blogosphere Love
Lately I've been the lucky subject of two different profiles on two different blogs.
Gorgeous blogger Petite Adventures featured me in her series of Vancouver blogger style profiles. As she put it, "This week, in honour of my being on holidays at home in B.C., it's five consecutive days of style profiles featuring some of Vancouver's most fashionable and influential bloggers." Click here to find out who my style/beauty icons are, where I like to shop, and what my 5 style essentials are.
The Girlie Blog also contacted me for an interview for her new blog Geekette Gazette, which profiles successful career women and how they've gotten to where they are today. After I got over the surprise of having become someone that others are supposed to look up to, I quickly said yes and submitted my answers. Click here to find out what a typical weekday in my life looks like (hint: it's busy), my take on the struggles inherent in toggling between two industries, and what I think the Victorians can teach us about good writing.
Have a good weekend everyone!
J. Crew Style Dos and Don'ts

Happy Labour Day weekend everyone! As we enjoy summer's last hurrah, my thoughts can't help but turn to fall. The days are getting shorter, the air crisper, the need for layers and cozy knits ever more pressing. Even though I'm sad about bidding farewell to summer, a bit of sartorial inspiration is the best cure, particularly when said inspiration comes from J. Crew's commander-in-chic, Jenna Lyons. The images above are from this lookbook where she shares her dos and don'ts for autumn style. I just had to share them with you because, well, it's hard not to covet every outfit in these photos.
And speaking of J. Crew, the Globe and Mail has been doing a series of articles about the grand opening of Toronto's new J. Crew store, the first such store to open north of the 49th parallel. They contacted me for a few comments on American retailers who open Canadian outlets, only to disappoint their customers in some way. Maybe the prices are higher than expected, or the selection seems sub-par, or the cachet of buying something that was only available abroad is gone. The article came out last week; click here if you want to read it.
Alright, your turn to share! How's your Labour Day weekend so far? What are your dos and don'ts for fall?
Published in FLARE Magazine!

In case you haven't heard via Twitter, I have an article in the June 2011 issue of FLARE magazine! As a fashion blogger and professional writer there's no greater thrill, especially since I'm also a subscriber and devoted reader. Many thanks to editor-in-chief Lisa Tant for this amazing opportunity to tell a very personal story; managing editor Catalina Margulis for her insightful editorial comments and professionalism; photographer Evaan Kheraj for the great job he did on the photoshoot; and hair and makeup artist Melanie Neufeld for making me look amazing. And last but not least, thanks to my mother for all the love, patience and support she has shown me over the years.
The June 2011 issue of FLARE is on news stands now, so pick up your copy today! I hope you enjoy reading the article as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Featured On Discovering Elegance

A little while ago, gorgeous blogger chellemorgan contacted me with an interview request for her blog Discovering Elegance. She was so sweet and charming and such a joy to talk to. The interview along with the beautiful photos Chelle took of my outfit are now up. Click here if you want to find out about where I went to school (and what I studied), my regular fashion staple, which film character's wardrobe I'm coveting, and other fun facts. Thanks for the fantastic profile, Chelle, and to my readers, I hope you enjoy reading it!

Happy Ada Lovelace Day!
Featured In Style Sample Magazine
If you didn't see my tweets yesterday, here it is again: I'm in this month's issue of Style Sample magazine, a magazine for and about fashion bloggers, under "Blogs to Watch." I'm super flattered to be included in a publication that spotlights talented, passionate fashion bloggers from around the globe. Many thanks to Style Sample's editrix-in-chief Tamia for contacting and featuring me!
Solo Lisa In Flare Magazine

It's true!
I'm on page 81 alongside my Stylefinds editor, Shallom--do you see us at the bottom of the page? (Click the image to enlarge.) Seriously, shameless self-promotion aside, you should go out and get a copy of this month's Flare. I'm going to have to sit down and read this one cover-to-cover like I did with the September issue: my brief skim-through revealed some beautiful editorials, as well as helpful articles about skin care and how to turn self-criticism around into a positive force.
Tidbits And A Tag For Your Wednesday?

I'm a couple days late mentioning this, but I was featured in the Blogger Spotlight portion of this week's IFB newsletter! My heartfelt thanks goes out to Najeema, Eyeliah, Retro Chick, Star Fashion, and Breakfast at Saks for this honour. For that matter, my heartfelt thanks to those of you who continue to read my blog.
I'm also over the moon about getting my first Coutorture mention for Solo Lisa. (My first Coutorture mention ever occurred when I published my interview with Two of Hearts on Stylefinds.)
Welcome, first-time visitors! I hope you enjoy yourselves while you're here. I'm sorry I don't have cookies for you, but my cooking skills are rubbish anyway. You wouldn't want what I bake.
Onto the tag portion of this post...
Little Bow Prep tagged me last week to show my heart through...
One picture
One poem
"Fable" by Octavio Paz
The age of fire and the age of air
The youth of water springing
From green to yellow
From yellow to red
From dream to vigil
From desire to act
You needed only one step and that taken without effort
The insects then were jewels who were alive
The heat lay down to rest at the edge of the pool
Rain was the light hair of a willow tree
There was a tree growing within your hand
And as it grew it sang laughed prophesied
It cast the spells that cover space with wings
There were the simple miracles called birds
Everything belonged to everyone
Everyone was everything
Only one word existed immense without opposite
A word like a sun
One day it exploded into the smallest fragments
They were the words of the language that we speak
They are the splintered mirrors where the world can see
itself slaughtered.
One item of clothing
One song
One place
One Disney princess
One quote
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
-"Ulysses" by Tennyson
I tag whoever's interested in doing this tag! It's a pretty fun exercise in self-reflection.
Stay tuned over the next couple of days. Vancouver Fashion Week is starting and I'll be covering parties and shows here and on Stylefinds. Opening gala is tonight. :-)
